Power Purchase Agreement FAQs
What happens at the end of the agreement?
At the end of your PPA term you’ll have the option to either have your provider remove the solar system and repair your roof at no additional cost or purchase the system at a fair market value to be determined by an independent assessor.
What happens if I move during the agreement?
Most people move on average every 7 years so we expect that most PPAs will be transferred at least once. If you move during the term your provider will help facilitate transferring the contract to the new homeowner. This usually isn’t a tough sell as your home will be powered by less expensive energy than one without solar.
Why are PPA rates so low compared to solar loans?
While the federal tax credit for residential solar purchases has been eliminated, Power Purchase Agreements are eligible for tax incentives as they are owned and operated by commercial entities. The value of the tax inventive is passed onto consumers in the form of a low rate making this the most affordable way to go solar in 2026 and beyond.
