The first sight of a sleek-looking EV zooming past you on the highway will get you saying, “Oh! That’s a Tesla.” But did you realize that Tesla is also one of the number one manufacturers of PV (photovoltaic) Solar as well? Their Solar Roof will get you just as excited and this time saying, “Oh! That’s a Tesla Roof!”

Welcome to the novel era of solar power.

Tesla, known for its electric cars, has become one of the largest solar players in the U.S. While Tesla’s concept of integrated solar roofs and energy storage has been marveled at for its ingenuity and aesthetics, not many people realize how readily available and real the product truly is.

After going through three product versions and hundreds of iterations, the Tesla Solar Roof has finally hit the market at scale. While Tesla delivered on manufacturing capacity, they struggled to execute at the local level with residential installation crews.

And that’s where Power Northwest came into the picture. Power Northwest is one of a select few Certified Installers on the West Coast for the Tesla Solar Roof and is the only Certified Installer serving Portland, OR.

“We’re on a mission to electrify the grid with clean power,” says Garrett Hartwell, the owner of Power Northwest. “We want to offer our customers the best in solar technology, and we believe that the Tesla Solar Roof is it. It’s durable, comes with a long-lasting 25-year warranty, and is absolutely beautiful to look at. This is solar, completely redesigned. It’s truly a market disruptor and we’re excited to be part of the revolution.”

    Meet Northwest Arsenal

Power Northwest is one of a select few Certified Installers on the West Coast for the Tesla Solar Roof and is the only Certified Installer serving Portland, OR. Operating as a Tesla Certified Installer, Power Northwest is pushing the aesthetic envelope by integrating solar into rooftops via the Tesla Solar Roof. Working with local jurisdictions and using installation methods specific to their local climate, Power Northwest can provide and install the Tesla Solar Roof in a manner that works.

Operating as a Tesla Certified Installer, Power Northwest is able to offer the local support necessary to make the installation for individual homeowners a reality. “We’re on a mission to electrify the grid with clean power,” says Garrett Hartwell, the owner of Power Northwest. “We want to offer our customers the best in solar technology, and we believe that the Tesla Solar Roof is it. To realize its vision, the initial step for Power Northwest was to undergo intense training—remotely, as well as in Tesla’s factory in Fremont—to get their entire crew Tesla certified. Being locally licensed and familiar with local jurisdictions and code requirements, Power Northwest can navigate the complicated and nuanced permitting process.

“Wait a minute, Tesla has been notorious for back-ordered products and long lead times!”

That’s not the case with the Tesla Solar Roof. According to Hartwell, Tesla has been able to deliver on every Solar Roof project that they’ve installed within 2-4 weeks. Their Solar Roof Division has ramped up capacity and is producing at scale.

Prior to partnering with Tesla, Power Northwest installed traditional solar systems, using Tier 1 products and systems backed by a 25-year warranty. The company also resonates with Tesla’s vision of maintaining aesthetics with elegant all-black panels and hidden end clamps to make the system a visual treat and add value to the home.

To achieve this, Power Northwest follows a meticulous approach, beginning with understanding the customers’ expectations from an aesthetic and budget point-of-view. Next, the team builds a custom 3D model of the house and works closely with the customer to hand-select the panels that meet their budget. Power Northwest then installs the panels and collects customer feedback to make changes during the installation process. Furthermore, the company provides ongoing support and maintenance services. It’s with this same care and dedication that they walk homeowners through the process of getting a Solar Roof.

Power NW Promoting Usage of Energy Storage

Power Northwest also promotes the usage of solar storage solutions, one of them being the Tesla Powerwall. As an integrated battery system, Tesla Powerwall stores solar energy for backup protection to keep appliances running when the grid goes down.

As an officially certified Benefit Corporation, what distinguishes Power Northwest is the three pillars that cement its founding principle—customer satisfaction, employee enrichment, and a cleaner environment. By utilizing the power of the sun, paired with Tesla’s technology, Power Northwest is enabling customers to reduce their carbon footprint and do their part to help save the environment.

“It’s time people start thinking about where they get their electricity from, how they use it, and the carbon footprint that the process generates,” advises Hartwell. “Along with Tesla, we’re providing a solution that allows our customers to go green while improving their lifestyle.  The Tesla Solar Roof truly is the best roof on the market, and it will pay for itself over time by the power it generates.”
